Andrea Barnett Jewelry

When we were at a Christmas party this season, I met a girl who was wearing the prettiest necklaces. She said the pieces were made by Andrea Barnett out of Dallas and available at Charde right by my house in Houston. I've loved the religious jewelry I've been seeing lately, but it's just so outrageously priced. The Andrea Barnett line is in the $100-$200 range, so much more affordable than other lines (but just as pretty).

Something pretty for a Friday...

Gurhan Jewlery - amazing, expensive....but if I could afford it, I'd say worth it.

Oval Turquoise Ring

Antique Japanese Satsuma Ring

Gold Quartz Ring

Lemon Citrine ring again...I wish that was my hand. Sigh, life is hard.

YSL Rings

I am liking these YSL rings at Net-a-Porter.  All around $195, which is relatively well-priced for Net-a-Porter.

GoGo

I first heard of Gogo Jewelry years ago from my friends from South Georgia and people with ties to St. Simons, GA. Turns out, they were on to something, because Gogo Jewelry is going to be on display at the High Museum of Art sometime in November (more to come when I know more, I'm so excited!) I wish I had bought some of her work when it was less expensive.

The owner, Gogo Ferguson, makes her jewelry out of anything from seemingly odd material such as rattlesnake jawbones and ribs, alligator scute (apparently part of the skin) to real starfish. She casts them in 14k gold or silver to preserve the fragile item.

Bee

I'm going to go ahead and say that bees are going to be the next big thing in jewelry. Here are my favorite apiology (study of bees) finds so far.

Bee necklace from Erica Weiner.

Bee earrings from Katinka Pinka on Etsy.com.

These are always cute gifts. This is the queen bee gold dipped make a wish necklace on gold silk thread. From Dogeared.

Bee Charmer Earrings from The Noisy Plume on Etsy.com. "When I walk past the yellow blom of palo verde trees in the spring I am warmly wrapped in the happy song of bees. How I wish I could charm them with my presence and reach a hand into the hollow where they store their honey. How I wish I could simply charm them into sharing some of the amber-sage-flavored-goodness with me." Jewelry + Literature for $39... WOW!

I'm not sure if these kind of places are just a Southern thing, or if it's all over. But while Im on the subject of bees... I LOVE HONEY on everything from biscuits to chicken. Go here to buy some of this roadside honey.

Lamenting the loss of my Lapis Necklace

Today I remembered my lapis necklace that I made and then subsequently lost about 3 years ago. I'm still not over it. Here are some replacement ideas that I love (almost) as much.

This is a beautiful option by Marc Jacobs at Saks. For work and play.

And lapis cuff links too... by Forzieri. Handsome with a nice white shirt.

Love these earrings. The opaque quality of lapis is a needed twist on the chandelier earring.

Sweet little studs from Tiffany's.

And my personal favorite, this Marnie Rocks necklace.

And my favorite that isn't for sale... is this lapis elephant I found on Wikipedia. Not sure where to buy it. It's not cited. Damn that Wikipedia "commons."

If this isn't just the cutest thing I've ever seen.... It's here.

Etsy

Etsy.com is such a good resource for all things handmade. There are so many creative and talented people in the world. I like all this MadeByStella jewelry. You'd pay alot more for the similar jewelry in stores, and it wouldn't one-of-a-kind and probably not handmade.

Jewelry

This is a really shady-looking website, but it has some pretty awesome finds. It's kind of like being at a estate sale, or goodwill, or my grandmother's house. Whatever, I have no shame in shopping. Morning Glory Jewelry.
