Could have fooled me

Looking at these photos from Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, I'd assume this was a loft apartment in San Francisco or New York. This is actually stylist Thea Beasley's apartment in Marietta, Ga., of all places. I love the eclectic look, and of course I cannot resist an all-white home. I also love Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles for constantly surprising me every month with new looks that don't follow the trends.

Musings on Houston Homes

I'm warming up to Houston. The food is great, there is so much to do and I actually like the heat. BUT, I still really miss the beautiful old homes in Atlanta. I guess it's that "Everything's Bigger in Texas" mentality, but the houses here are so new and McMansion-like (there are SOME exceptions of course). While reading a recent article in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, I realized what is missing here: a timeless style. Homes that will only get more beautiful with time. In Houston, they will only be bulldozed to build a bigger spec house (eek.... a little bitter?)! Just looking at these houses from the article makes me miss the old, established, tasteful homes in Atlanta (and Souper Jenny).

Lee's Sovereign Condo

I wasn't going to post this...but when it came down to it I couldn't resist. What your old boss, Lee, has done with her new home in the Sovereign (see article here) is absolutely amazing. I can't believe how she has transformed it... I also flipped (for the umpteenth time) through the Cottage Living pics of her old house in Garden Hills, and now I honestly can't say which one I like best. She really is just so talented - I'm jealous of her life!

Missing ATL?

After moving to Houston, I find myself missing the beautiful old houses in Atlanta. In Houston, the houses are big and glitzy. In Atlanta, the houses are old, classic and simple. I never thought it would be my style, but I sure do miss the traditional homes! Here are some of my favorite Atlanta homes:

Finally

So I have been feeling really uninspired by Atlanta designers. I feel like everyday an Atlanta design magazine comes out, it's another watered down beach look... UNTIL I saw a recent Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles article featuring Keith Summerour's fantastic hunting lodge in Meriwether County, GA. When I finally have a lake house/country house/ranch/lodge I want it to look very similar to this (maybe not as tall).
