Countdown to 2011

While I think New Year's Eve is usually way overrated, I would like to know my plans for this year so I have an excuse to purchase this dress....navy's the new black.

...it's my new obsession

No, not pink, but gray(grey?) is my new obsession. White is always a summer favorite of mine, but being so ghastly pale I've learned that gray is a much better alternative for me + it looks great with white pants (I think).

And then as well as being gray, this new Forever 21 tee is my favorite purchase lately. I hadn't been in the store in ages, but I will be ordering these in mass online soon. What's so great about it you say? Well the fabric is so thin and soft (maybe this is bc it's 50% suprima cotton?) and then secondly, its super long which I always love...

What to wear, what to wear

In my old age, I'm having trouble thinking of creative outfits. I feel like we were all so good at that once upon a time (when we had more time), but I've lost my touch. Luckily, the blogger from All Things Lovely has a really inspirational Polyvore account here.

Gadget style

Ever since I saw this picture yesterday in The Satorialist, I have not been able to get my mind off trench coats...They are such versatile items and will really never go out of style, I love an item you can't call a trend. I have a black one that I get a lot of use out of on dreary days or even j days where I just need an extra light layer. Now I'm on the hunt for a khaki one, a shorter version like the one above...it seems they are everywhere and at every price point so it shouldn't be too hard!
Gap, $88

DKNY, $119 (via Bluefly)

Banana Republic, $198

J. Crew, $298

Burberry, $975 (via Saks)

Thoughts? Favs? I think I'm leaning towards J. Crew...typical.

Querida Brighton...

This post is dedicated to you, querida, because it's all about fashion from your part of the world (not yours for long though!!!) Anyways, its also a double post, because one idea triggered another and I don't have the willpower to hold one post over until tomorrow.

This first label, Uvaia, was brought to my attention this morning via Daily Candy. Its a Brazilian label created by sisters from São Paulo... The second label is from my favorite store in Buenos Aires, Complot. I am really into the vivid prints and 80's influence of both of the lines. While all together it may seem a bit jumbled, both of the lines have pieces that are great for mixing and matching with more the more classic staples in your closet. Enjoy! (and go get me that leopard cardigan from Complot immediately!)

Trend Watch...

Lately, everywhere I look I've been seeing the 'strong shoulder' trend in action. At first, I have to admit I wasn't crazy about it; it reminded me of my mom's shoulder pad blazers from the 80s. But now, I have to say, I'm getting into it....
