Fabric

I realize that it is a trend right now, but I still love Southwestern prints. The scarf is here. I also assert that it is just a mini-trend, and it will always be a classic print. I found all this fabric on eBay. Although some of it seems to have some sort of repeated jalapeno motif going on, other seems definitely salvageable. Maybe I'll donate the "issue" fabrics to some sort of neighborhood grill chain restaurant to use as napkins. Not sure what I'm going to do with the other. It will probably just sit with all my other packrat items, such as the 2 years of archived TeenVogues that I'm totally never going to need. Or maybe I'll think of something brillant.

This is Kate

At the risk of using an overused work, I am OBSESSED with etsy.com. I think they need to hire me as a personal etsy shopper. Anyway this is more cool etsy stuff. ThisIsKate has cool unwatercolory watercolors. She also has a website www.thisiskate.com, but I'm partial to etsy.

Quilts

Today I was at the High Museum of Art. I always see something new, but today I saw these really awesome African quilts. Click here for the High. Then I remembered seeing a quilt at my uncle's house this weekend that I really liked. Then I realized I love quilts. Quilts involve so much work, creativity and convey a piece of the person who made them. The best example of quilts as art are the quilts of Gee's Bend. These are quilts made by ladies from Alabama (woowoo) and they make these amazingly artistic pieces that are all over the country in museums. It's great for L.A. (lower Alabama) and great for culture in general. Click here for just a few of the quilts.

J.Crew Jacquard Jumper

J.Crew has really fantastic summer clothes out. I was in the store today, and saw this cute classy dress. It's actually better in person. It reminds me of some of the Jackie O-like outfits I inherited from fashionable grandmother. In case youre wondering, Jacquard (like this dress) is named after Joseph Marie Jacquard who invented a loom that weaves this kind of fabric. Just FYI. J.Crew click here.

Zebra Rugs

Lately I've been liking zebra rugs, but I think a cruelty-free zebra rug is probably the best way to go. Jonathan Adler has a great llama wool zebra rug. Click here to find the rug and all of the other awesome JA products.

Etsy

Etsy.com is such a good resource for all things handmade. There are so many creative and talented people in the world. I like all this MadeByStella jewelry. You'd pay alot more for the similar jewelry in stores, and it wouldn't one-of-a-kind and probably not handmade.
